It has been over four years now since Holden joined our family. His journey started off bumpy and he's had to overcome some health challenges. But the Little Monkey continues to fight his way to becoming strong and healthy. We are so blessed to have him as our son. He inspires us and melts our hearts every day. Thank you for joining us on this journey. We've appreciated everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Reasons to Smile...

Today is mine and Reece's 8th Anniversary. It is hard to believe it has been eight years since we got married. As I've told Reece, if we've made it through the past 2 years, we can make it through anything!! It is amazing what love (and of course hard work) can get you through. My Mom is watching Holden tomorrow night so we can go to dinner to celebrate. I'm looking forward to some time, just the two of us.

I've been counting down the days until our trip to Walt Disney World. We are going with my sister Joanne and her family and then Sheila & Trish are joining us at Animal Kingdom next Monday. I absolutely love Disney World. I have so many fond memories of our trips there when I was growing up. I can remember my Dad, who was not usually a silly kind of guy, being a big kid and having fun. And Reece and I have gone a couple of times just the two of us.
So now we get to go and experience the "Happiest Place on Earth" through the eyes of our son.

Reece has been teasing me that the trip is really for me, as Holden is not old enough to remember it. And while he may be right, as far as Holden will probably not remember this trip to Disney, I do think Holden will certainly enjoy it in the moment. He will love meeting Mickey Mouse, going on the rides/attractions, seeing the parades, eating his first Mickey ears ice cream, hearing the music and seeing all of the kids around him. And Mommy will love watching his face - so yes, the trip is very much for me too! I'm sure I'll have some cute photos to post next week.

We stayed busy Labor Day weekend and had a chance to visit with Friends. We hung out with Paul & Collin and their daughter Sarah and Brian and Jennifer. Sarah did a great job of entertaining Holden and had him cracking up as she pulled him in the wagon. She was going so fast that we called it Holden's roller coaster ride. He was having so much fun that when she stopped to take a break, he would fuss for more!

He also loved playing the drums with Paul! I think we have a future rock star on our hands!

Monday, we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant with our friends Mike and Ann. Holden really liked his chips, queso and salsa! We are finding that he likes spicy foods. I am just so happy that he is eating solid food and I'm glad that the spicy stuff does not seem to aggravate his reflux.

As I reflect on the week I realize that I really do have so many reasons to smile - and no doubt, I'll be doing lots more smiling this weekend at Disney World!
